Tips by Nic November 2009
Yes, it’s that time again. The Holidays are fast approaching and there’s nothing you can do about it. The stores are already filled with Holiday ads. I even heard Christmas music already! You cannot stop the seasons, but you can “Slow Down”! That’s the tip for November. Slowing down during a time where people are gearing up for stress is what’s going to keep you going while everyone else falls to the side.
Eating – Did you know it takes 20 minutes after you eat for your brain to register that it’s full. So instead of getting that second helping of turkey wait! Slow down.
- Walking on the treadmill – Yes, you heard me correctly. I see people hanging on for dear life with the incline on a treadmill all the way up. Guess what? You’re not burning anymore calories! You’d be better off, slowing down and not holding onto anything. (If working on balance, utilize the sides for that, but DO NOT hang on).
- Elliptical – Try not using the handles to hold on. This forces you to slow down, because if you don’t you’ll fall. Not only that, when you’re working on balance, you automatically engage the core muscles!
- Sit-ups & Crunches – Slow down! Breathe in when you’re shoulders are on the ground. Let your breath out on the way up. Do Not hold your breath. Concentrate.
There are other non-traditional exercises – Slow Down!
