11-03-2009: Walk for Diabetes in the Desert

Dear Desert Friends -

I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend. Where else can you spend the 1st of November by the pool in a two-piece bathing suit, but Palm Springs. I hope everyone remembered to turn their clocks back, and I hope you're ready for some more great Holidays ahead.

Well, like I said there's a lot happening this month in the Desert beginning this weekend with Open Houses and Anniversaries. A walk in La Quinta for Diabetes. A run downtown Palm Springs. Sacred Dances. Book Signings. I'm on the radio.Outside the Desert there's a Half Marathon. Best of all a local girl sings at the House of Blues in Los Angeles. The rest of the month looks to be just as exciting. Silent Autions. Turkey Trots....

With the holidays right around the corner I want to introduce you to my friend Sherilynn with Green Cleaning - eco friendly cleaning. Along with some exciting news for Fit By Nic....If you have something exciting you'd like to share with me just give me a call!

Oh, most importantly - my Great Nephew David turns 5 months old today!

Walk to Fight Diabetes

 Take the First Step

La Quinta Community Center

Last year more than 100,000 walkers from around the

country joined in the fight against diabetes because

they knew that together we can stop diabetes.

 Each step they took and every dollar they raised helps the American Diabetes Association provide community based education programs, protect the rights of people with diabetes and fund critical research for a cure.

Palm Springs Pride 5k walk/run

 This year marks the 14 Annual Palm Springs Pride Fun Run to be presented on Sunday, Nov 8, 2009, start gun at 7:30 am, before the Pride Parade.  For the FIRST TIME EVER, we will be running down the middle of Palm Canyon Drive!!!  

  The race starts at Alejo & Palm Canyon.

You'll see our bright red, white & blue USA tent at race start where you can do last minute registration,

or pick-up your pre-reg race numbers, and optional T-shirt. We'll have the traditional muffins, fruit and Gatorade for finishers as well as medals 3 deep for the top age-group finishers in 5 year increments. 

 Runners, walkers and joggers are welcome,

just be advised that the course will close at 8:30 am

 (a requirement we agreed to in order to get permission to close the street).

This is a Road Runner Clubs of America insured event

with a special thanks to the city of Palm Springs

Parks & Recreation Department.
