 Falling down
I want to share a personal story with you. Last week I was riding my bicycle. I came across a water patch, slipped & went down. I don't mean that I gracefully lowered myself & my bike to the ground. I mean, I hit the ground so hard my helmet cracked. I know this sounds dramatic, but it's the first time in all my years of riding that I've had a fall like this. There was blood coming down the side of my face & my head began to 'hear' stars. I can't tell you how sad, disappointed & embarrassed to share with you that NO ONE stopped to see if I was ok. NO ONE even slowed down to shout out the window, 'Are you okay?' I was not on a back street. Vista Chino & Landau, going into the shopping center. Cars passed me driving into the center & some continuing on the street. Have we really become so self-absorbed - or whatever you want to call it - that when a woman is seen on the side of the road with blood coming down her face, that we don't even stop? I don't get it. I did get up eventually & went into the Starbucks to evaluate any injuuries. I had a cut at my eyebrow line. It bled for a couple of hours, but apparently I have a hard head. I want to thank all the Starbucks employees for sharing their concern.  I will leave you with this: "Slow down. Take time to say hello to a stranger.  Smile at someone new. Do something nice for someone without boasting about it. Breathe in the fresh air. Laugh at yourself. ....And stop when you see someone bleeding on the side of the road!" Thank you.
