My Fellow Fitness Fiends -
If you have kids who are telling you "there's nothing to do in the Desert", well I'm going to tell what is available for the kids. (I remember telling my Momma there was nothing to do & found myself sweeping & mopping the floor.)
Anyway, check out the Bottom Line in the section for 'Athletes In Action' - where I am featured talking about my X-Rated Cardio Class. Thank you, Michael.
Did you hear me on Sounds of the Desert with Rene Mendoza 98.5FM? I was teaching a Chi Exercise class, but my phone is already ringing with people wanting to know how they can get FIT BY NIC!!
Keep reading as I tell you about the Desert Strength Academy for Youth.

CYCLING CONTINUES |
Lance Armstrong
American cyclist Lance Armstrong suffered a shattering blow in his comeback, when he broke his right collarbone after falling on the first stage of a five-day race in northern Spain. Armstrong crashed about 16 kilometers (10 miles) from the end of the 168-km stage and later said it was the first time he had suffered such an injury in his 17 years as a professional cyclist. "That's cycling," Armstrong said. "It's nobody's fault. Crashes happen all the time."
Lance is back in the states, recovering, and will continue to be a cancer activist as head for the Livestrong Foundation.

Team in Training
Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
Team In Training's cycling program offers the opportunity to take on the challenge of 100 miles and make a difference in the lives of an estimated 894,000 Americans living with blood cancers. Along with a customized training program and expert coaching, participants train with a local group of like-minded individuals for motivation and inspiration.
November 21, 2009
The ride starts and finishes at Granada, south of Congress in downtown Tucson, with cyclists touring the scenic perimeter of the city. The most unique feature of El Tour is its two river crossings. At two points along the route, cyclists must cross a "wash," which may or may not have water in it. Cyclists generally dismount and push, drag or carry their bicycles across the sand/rocks/mud. Bridges are built especially for the day if the water is flowing. This ride is 109 miles. There are also 81, 66 and 35-mile routes.
