I don't know about you guys, but I get an overload of information about exercise, nutrition, meditation, health and fitness in general. I get no less than 10 magazines a month - some I even subscribe too!
I try to pick out the most pertinent information, I think will benefit my readers.
Some of the magazines I review are: Fitness Journal, Health, Women's Health, Men's Health - (Yes these are 3 different magazines) LA Yoga, Runners, Self, among others.
Newspaper articles run the gamut, The Desert Sun, LA Times, Healthy Times,
plus more,
including whatever town or city I may be in.
I have several books I'm fond of, including, but not limited to: anything by
Jillian Michaels, Hiking, Walking/Running - of course my NASM - manual, and my anatomy coloring book.
I also subscribe to many e-newsletters, including Jillian Michaels, Oprah, Healthy Advantage, many mind, body, spirit newsletters and more.
I do not have a 'regular' job. Fitness training is not a hobby.
Training is not something I do on the side,
or to supplement another income.
Training in all aspects
is my passion.
That means I'm working overtime to bring the best of healthy & fitness to everyone.
That's why I'm starting

Hello -
June is here already. Can you believe the overcast. I drove to work this morning in 75 degree weather at 7:30. Let's enjoy it while we can. As it get's hotter look for healthy things to do inside. Like my BootCamp for Beginners is moving Indoors - so everyone can have Fun with Fit By Nic this summer. Not only will I be doing my BootCamp in air conditioning there will be more classes!
But I need your help! It's time to clean out the closets. Empty the storage units of all those old dumb bells you haven't used in years. Give'em up! I'll put them to good use. Or I'll help others put them to good use.

PILATES VS. GYM CRUNCH |

As I mentioned in the article to the left I receive and research a lot of information.
I recently took a course on the 'effectiveness of
pilates exercises vs. gym crunches' for
the best abdominal results.
According this course specific Pilates exercises
'beat out' the crunch for better obliques,
upper & lower abdominals.
The specific Pilates exercises were as follows:
- The Hundred
- Double Leg Stretch
- Roll up
- Criss Cross

What are other benefits to Pilates?
There are two main benefits:
1. Body Awareness - posture, not just how you sit,
but also how you stand, cook, brush your teeth.
Helps you to stay connected to your body, when you're using your body in daily acitivites.
2. Core Strength - Having a flat stomach doesn't
necessarilty mean your core is strong.
Core also includes your glute muscles,
hamstrings, chest.

There are a pyramid of benefits from these:
- less back pain
- better balance
- less stress
- less shoulder & neck pain
Pilates can be done on a mat, a ball, a
machine called a 'transformer'.
Try it out.
More than once.
