REIKI WORKSHOP |

(Free Intro Friday nite required)
This is an intensive weekend course on Reiki I & II.
This
class is a combination of lecture, group discussion and experience in which
you will receive all attunements and hands on practice.This class combines information with experiential practice in a well organized
but relaxed program. A detailed class manual is included and upon
successful completion, a certificate for Reiki I and II is given.
A light lunch is provided. Students should prepare for class by eating lightly,
drinking plenty of pure water and coming with an open heart.

I first met Mari Mendoza when she moved to the Desert in 2000 from the East Coast, Province Town. During a hike on the Araby trails Mari pulled out some 'herbs' - which we burned, not smoked - and broke out in prayer, thanking Mother Earth, the Native Land, her guides, gods, goddesses & all others for allowing us to share this planet and asking how we can help her heal. I'm sure there was more, but this was only a glimpse into the woman who has become a friend, a teacher, a healer.

ABOUT MARI
Mari Mendoza is a Karuna Reiki Master, Sound & Crystal Healing Practitioner. Mari is also a Medicine Initiate of Native Healing Lodges. She conducts classes in meditation & crystal healing, facilitates regular community ceremonies for Solstices & Equinoxes. Mari is an experienced teacher of Reiki and healer of various modalities, including crystal & sound, as well as others.
In 2000, Mari moved to the Desert. On attending the first Reiki Sound Healing Conference in Sedona, Mari realized that she had to take the next step after the Master level and then returned to Sedona to receive
her Karuna Reiki® Master Attunement.  At that time she also began to work extensively with crystals and crystal grids in ceremony. She returned to Sedona to receive her attunement as a Crystal Healing Practitioner which
combines the use of crystals and Reiki to facilitate healing. Through studying herbs, stones and crystals, ceremonies, shieldmaking, sacred healing songs, drum and sound healing, Mari has continued to heal herself and expand her experience of healing traditions
from around the world.
Mari continues to utilize her unique combination of experience and gathered wisdom to help teach and spread the word of self-empowerment.

WHAT IS REIKI |
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power and Ki which is "life force energy." It is administered by "laying on of hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. Reiki is simple, natural and a safe method of spiritual healing and selfimprovement that everyone can use. It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and malady and always creates a beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.
The Original Japanese "kanji" (symbol) for Reiki portrays a "spirit person," more traditionally known as a "shaman." Finding the similarities striking, Mari found Reiki complements the healing traditions she already works with. The practice of hands on healing was given additional strength and knowledge by receiving the "attunements" for the Reiki symbols and healing system. |

I've talked a lot about Mari the healer, the woman, the Reiki master, but this news article just wouldn't be complete without mentioning Mari the Artist. I don't know how to adequately describe the 'work' she has done. Mural, mural on the wall at www.marisarts.com will give you some idea into the art world of Mari Mendoza.  For an even better, up-front look Mari's work can be viewed at the Noodle Bar at the Spa Resort Casino, in Palm Springs, Ca., where she created two lucky dragons playing. Mari also created a sacred space for a client who wanted specific colors and tones to be the backdrop of an East Indian Temple. The theme using Indian architecture and stone work for a meditative bedroom atmosphere.
Mari also does in-and outdoor murals as well as teaches art to the tribal children at Aqua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians.
