NEW: BASIC LOSER CONTEST IN PALM SPRINGS -

Thank you all for your support of the Basic Loser Finale Wed nite 7 May.   I know it was a long night - but we made it! My contestant Mike Hilger is the Palm Springs Basic Loser!!! FitByNic 2007 Overview

In the Year 2007 I began working at two different Country Clubs in the Desert as a Fitness Trainer - The Springs and Thunderbird Estates - both in Rancho Mirage. I also provide private fitness services for clients from the Enclave in La Quinta to Cardiac Rehabilitation at Desert Hospital. Most of my clients are over the age of fifty and are at various fitness levels. The need for balance and core training are more important as we get older and I am proud to be one of the few female trainers who understands the needs of this group. I also work out with several different people at the Power of Fitness gym in Palm Springs and 24 Hour Fitness in Cathedral City. A also provide fitness support at a local drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility in Palm Springs,  which will be “spotlighted” in the upcoming months.

I have continued to seek ways of improving and educating myself to provide the utmost excellence and up-to-date information to those I serve. Through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and Fitness Journal magazines I have received certificates for “Women’s Health Issues”, “Nutrition”, “Business Ethics”, and “Mind-Body-Spirit Workout”. I was also a ‘boot camp’ participant, taught by Bravo’s Workout Jackie Warner. {Look for FitByNic’s first boot camp coming up in 2008!}

The workshops, classes and boot camps, combined with my own training, all serves to provide you with the best in Professional Fitness in the Desert. Because I believe in working the “whole” body, mind and spirit, I also participated in a New Moon Ceremony and a Winter Solstice Celebration facilitated by Mariana Mendoza. ( For more information on these and more go to Urban Yoga or marim@marisarts.com) Yoga, along with the practices of Tai Chi and Qi Gong are also helpful in reducing stress and addressing issues for the ‘Whole Body’. As I am a student as well as you, go to the search engine and type in either yoga, tai chi and/or Qi gong for further information.

About Nickie Nicolas

Nickie is accredited by the National Academy of Sports Medicine as a Professional Fitness Instructor. She also has a degree in counseling and psychology, and has worked in the Mental Health and Substance abuse field, as well as social work for Child Protective Services. She has been a Desert resident for twenty years and has participated in various physical charity events, riding 100 miles in the Tour de Palm Springs. Nickie is an active trainer, as she participated in all the activities she trains, including hiking, lifting weights, running, just to name a few. Nickie has overcome many obstacles to get where she is today.

“Ten years ago I was told I would not be able to run anymore due to knee problems. I was told I would need surgery if I continued to run. I wrapped my knee and continued to run. Due to certain life changes and my own training, I continue to run today, without a knee brace and without any surgeries. Let me share my experience, strength and hope with you in how I went from a size 12 to a 4 in less than 3 years.”


TRAINING SPECIAL - January & February only!!

Train w/a buddy for free - applies to 30 min sessions only. Minimum of 2 sessions weekly.

Sometimes it’s easier to get to the gym when we’ve committed to someone that we will meet them there. For those who are tired of the gym, sessions can easily be transferred to an outside environment or in your home. Depending on your fitness level, all training equipment will be pro-vided for you.

Cost - $40 for ea. 30 min session.
